   Dear Praying Friends:

Thanksgiving! As I reflect upon the many, many things for which I am thankful, you come to mind. Without you, I could not serve the Lord in the “Regions beyond”. Without your prayers, I would not have the strength or courage to carry on. Without the Lord’s direction in my life, I would have no purpose. Thank you for your prayers, love, and support. I am truly thankful for the opportunities I have been given to serve Him.

This Thanksgiving Day was especially nice for me as I was able to be at home for a family gathering. My nieces and their families came from Oklahoma and those who have become family all came together to enjoy turkey and all the trimmings.

Thankfulness also extends to the opportunities the Lord has brought my way. This autumn, Miriam Moore, a friend with whom I taught at BBC, accompanied me to England. What a blessing to have someone with whom to share the beauty of the “Old Country”. During the week break between classes, we were able to journey about. In Scotland, she found graves of distant grandparents and in both Wales and Coventry, we enjoyed the fellowship of friends and I spoke for ladies meetings attended by ladies from several area churches. I enjoyed making wordless book necklaces for the ladies and sharing the old, old story with them.

The new students at BBC of Great Britain were a special blessing. Serving sometimes come in unusual ways. For example, during English Communication class, a students asked, “Miss Herman, how do I find verses I know are in the Bible, but I don’t know how to find them?” At that moment, English instruction stopped and Bible Study Methods began. What a joy to pull Strong’s Concordance and other Bible helps and study books off the library shelves and help Roger understand how to better use his Bible. The next module course was Methods of Bible Teaching, so the study continued to help them grasp how to take the Bible and teach others. The students showed a remarkable desire to learn. What a privilege is mine! Thank you for sending me.

Joyfully Serving,

Mary Herman
