   Dear Praying Friends,
'Tis a beautiful day in jolly 'ole England. The sun is shining brightly and the breezes blowing gently. What a day to remember.
We are packing, cleaning the house, doing the last minute laundry in preparation for departure to Coventry this afternoon and then on to London tomorrow. We depart at 11 AM, so if you just happen to awaken during the wee hours, whisper a prayer for our traveling safety.
I haven't written much this trip. It has been busy and wonderful. This time a friend who taught with me at BBC accompanied me to England and on all the other ministry opportunities in Wales and Scotland. What a wonderful thing for me to have someone with whom to share the beauty, history, and wonders of the UK. For those of you who are married, this probably will not sound profound at all, but for those who are single or single again, you understand perfectly. The good Lord is ever present, but sometimes one just needs someone "with skin on" to fully enjoy what God has done or just thoughts.
Over the past two months, I have taught two college courses here in the Mid Lands, but have also been able to speak for ladies' events. Our trip to Scotland was Miriam's favorite. She had a Scottish grandfather who sang many Scottish folk songs and spoke fondly of his heritage. She was able to do a bit of family history work and we found graves of 3 of her grand parents. That in itself was quite a find! On the way up and back, we took the scenic routes through the Yorkshire Dales and also by Hadrien's Wall. This time, I accidentally found an old Roman fort and a section of the wall which runs parallel with a small country road. Quite a find! Sure hope I can do it again if I am ever driving that way.
One of my favorite memories was a trip over to Wales. There were four ladies in the car and conversation ran constantly. We were to stay in a missionary's home, but the boiler was out, no water, no heat, and no ladies staying. Although the missionaries were mortified. It is just one of those things that happens. An absolutely marvelous lady from that church showed up and took charge. She was on the phone making deals for hotel rooms. It was a delight to hear her, "Let me give you the picture, Da-a r-r-ling, we have these 4 la-a-dies here for an event with our church and the accommodations we had arranged are not working out. What can you do for us, Da-a-r-rling? Please give me the very best price possible, you know we use your hotel on other occasions, Dar-r-ling! Oh, thank you Sweethea-r-rt. That would be delightful!". Sue Reddick was the hostess for the meeting, and that night, about 30 ladies from 3 churches gathered for the meeting. It was a privilege to be able to share the Word with them. It was also a privilege to become acquainted with Sue and enjoy preparing gospel necklaces around her table.
On the return trip, we made a bit of a circle along the coast then through the Snowdonia area. The Welsh Mountains are absolutely beautiful. The day was clear as a bell, and the four of us stopped when we wanted and had a great time. We managed to squeeze a 2 hour drive into about 5 hours. Not bad huh!
Another special time was a ladies meeting with the Hendrickson's and Ivison's ladies. They are a sweet group of mostly older ladies whom we enjoyed visiting with and getting to share with them as well. This time there was enough time to make the necklaces together. It was a privilege to share the meaning of each colored bead and the gospel message.
The Hendricksons have been so kind as to collect us from and then take us back to the airport. Anna also shared some time with us in the Lakes District. What a beautiful area, and what a fun time we had - old friends sharing together.
The Patty Dunmire and Laura Ferrell were to go with us as well, but Patty broke her hip the week before. That sure does slow a person down, but not for long if you are Patty. She is walking well now, was able to go to Wales, and even made a full English tea for us this week.
I haven't gotten all the work in from the last class yet. I think the students were a bit overwhelmed with college level work after some years out of school. So, they shall be shipping it to me.
Upon arrival back in Springfield Wednesday (10/31) evening, I will be there overnight then off to Overland Park Baptist to join their mission's conference Thursday through Sunday night. The next weekend in the Dallas area, pick up Mom and then a time to catch my breath.
The families of my nieces whose mother passed away last June are joining us for Thanksgiving. It will be really good to have family at my home this year.

Blessings to all of you.
